Recipients & OSUIT Partnership

RECIPIENTS

MCGPA targets junior and senior-level students at local universities that express an interest in a career in the Midstream Industry upon graduation. That focus, coupled with strategic partnerships with institutions, such as Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology, allow MCGPA to directly contribute to the quality and growth of the midstream industry.

MCGPA Midstream may award multiple scholarships annually to qualified candidates, based on the recommendation of the Scholarship Committee and established scoring criteria. Interested candidates, or those wanting to nominate a candidate, can contact members of the Scholarship Committee.

OSUIT Partnership

In a major effort to support local midstream industry talent today and for years to come, MCGPA Midstream and GPSA joined forces and donated $25,000 toward classroom improvements for OSUIT’s newly created Pipeline Integrity Technology and an additional $45,000 toward scholarships and operating costs to the Natural Gas Compression Program.

The Pipeline Integrity Technology curriculum at OSU Institute of Technology enables students to develop the skills and knowledge required to be successful in the Pipeline Industry. Major topics include assessing pipeline damage and risk, corrosion control, regulations, safety, design, and integrity management.

The Natural Gas Compression Program at OSUIT is taught by faculty with solid industry experience and supported by leading natural gas compression producers and suppliers. From engines to electronic controls, the curriculum is focused around hands-on instruction. The classroom and lab learning are then reinforced by internships offered by industry employers. Often, students are sponsored by GPA Midstream member companies who may provide scholarships or other means of educational assistance.

MCGPA Receives Excellence Award

The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education recognizes collaborative partnerships between institutions and businesses throughout Oklahoma including OSU Institute of Technology’s long-standing partnership with the Midcontinent Chapter of the Gas Processors Association.

The Regents Business Partnership Excellence Award is designed to highlight successful partnerships between education institutions and businesses and to further cultivate the higher learning environment through State Regents’ Economic Development Grants.

Institutions involved in these partnerships provide $500 for tuition waivers to employees of the partnering business; internships for current students to work at the partnering business; faculty externships with the businesses; and/or enhancement of the partnerships with additional equipment, materials or supplies. The State Regents award a $500 matching tuition waiver to the partnering businesses.

“We have worked hard as an organization to raise money for the benefit of the communities we work in and around. It’s always nice to be recognized for the work you’ve done. I was excited for our chapter to be nominated by OSUIT as it told me that our partners identify the value that our chapter creates,” Brian Leedy said. “OSUIT continues to graduate students with the experience and tools needed in our industry. We will continue to support their programs, as every dollar we donate returns to us tenfold. We are honored to be recognized by OSUIT.”
